(1) Combined fixture: it is a modular fixture, a special fixture assembled from a set of pre-manufactured standard components;

(2) Accompanying fixture: automatic line fixture, which not only undertakes the task of clamping, but also undertakes the task of transporting workpieces along the automatic line;

When the  fixture tools has been used for a long time, the tools are stacked to make the fixture uneven, and the nail corners are worn. How to deal with it?

When the fixture is used to a certain extent, there will be small deviations, which will affect the accuracy of the fixture. How should we calibrate when it happens?

HPEDM  tells you how to calibrate the fixture:

  1. First, place the four nail corners of the jig on a marble platform, and manually check whether the jig is uneven.
  2. When the jig is not flat, a crisp sound will be made when the finger is tapped on the jig, indicating that the jig is not flat and needs to be calibrated. If there is no sound, the jig is flat and there is no problem.
  3. If there is any unevenness, it must be ground and corrected. Put the grinding paste on the grinding table, and then polish the four nail corners according to the figure 8.
  4. When grinding, the tolerances of the specification data must be checked.
  5. Put the jig on the marble platform and check with the altimeter whether the jig data is within tolerance.

  1. Installation and usage of EDM copper electrode holder

1.1:The installation of EDM Electrode :

①The EDM electrode holder should be cleaned and assembled the centering plate , the clamp head and the electrode. Then, after setting the torque bar to 80 lbs, tighten the 4 foot screws.

②After cleaning the platform, place the  EDM electrode on the platform and check if the 4 feet are close to the platform surface.

Test  the 4 foot screws if it is the same horizontal.

The electrode has been inspected, and the 4 feet are placed on the rubber sleeve (Fig. 6) before being sent to the next processing department.

1.2:the usage of CNC group﹑ EDM group:

After receiving the electrode holder, the operator should take off the rubber sleeve of the foot and check whether the four screws are twisted tightly.

②Mounting spigot: After checking the EDM electrode holder , the spigot can be locked.

Align the position of the centering plate with the spigot and check that the position of the spigot  matches the position of the tube on the centering plate.

③mount on the chuck:

  • Use a rod to tighten the chucking spigot on chuck and check that the four feet of the clamp head are close to the plane of the chuck. After the electrode holder is installed, it can be processed.
  • ④Check if the processed electrode is centered and level:A.Remove the electrode holder from the machine and place it on the chuck  of the marble table carefully。B.After installation, check the center and level of the electrode with the calibration meter on the marble table.。
  • When the electrode holder needs to be rotated during the inspection, the electrode holder must be raised so that the four feet can be rotated , so as to prevent the four feet from hitting the chucks’ jaw。
  • After the inspection is completed, the 4 feet of the electrode holder are put on the rubber sleeve before being sent to the next processing department.
  • 1.3:EDM group﹑Wire EDM group:①After the polished electrode is sent to the EDM/wire EDM group, the operator cleans the electrode first, then removes the rubber sleeve and checks whether the screw is tight by hand.②After inspection, the electrode holder can be mounted on the  chuck of the machine for EDM die sinking.

  • Install the hex nail. First install the M5 screws. Note that the M5 screws and the hexagonal nails are installed in the same direction. Install the mounted M5 screws on the electrode holder.
  • It is not enough to manually install the M5 screw on the electrode holder. Also use the special torque wrench to adjust the position to 5kg (5N).

The M5 screw receives the proximity positioning surface, and then tightens it with a wrench until the wrench vibrates (ie, 5N locking force).

  1. Finally,  Adjust the electrode holder . Place the assembly on a flat table and check

that the four hex nails are flat. If unevenness occurs, adjust the balance with a normal wrench and then test on the test instrument. The precision is required to be ±0.002 mm.
